We haven't had to use the choke on my wife's '96 yet. Starts better when cold but takes off easily in hot (95+ degrees F) even after riding for an hour. We haven't tried riding it with the temp below 70 degrees F yet but the '87 I used to own started easily at all temperatures. I cold weather (snow on the ground) I used to choke it when starting cold then pushed the choke in as soon as the engine was running.
